Up the valley in Hailey and Sun Valley, elevation, drifting and freeze-thaw cycling push the specification further: heavier gauge, deeper footings, and wind sensing that stops being optional.
Permits: the short version
A motorized pergola in Twin Falls needs a permit. Not usually, not probably. The city requires a permit for all electrical, plumbing, mechanical and gas work, with no size threshold and no exemption, and the city inspects those trades itself.
